About Arise & Build · Florida and the Tampa Bay area

Work that outlasts any one leader.

Ministries often know their mission. The operations live in one person’s head. Arise & Build helps Christian ministries and nonprofits turn good intentions into work that runs without the leader.

“Let us rise up and build.” Nehemiah 2:18 (NKJV)

The founder

Four fields of experience, one purpose: work that keeps going without you.

Matt Hilaire has worked in human services, in 401(k) service, account management and implementation at Paychex, and in church ministry. Each field taught him something a ministry leader needs.

You do not need a consultant who only understands business, or one who only understands ministry. Matt has worked in both. He knows what people carry, how a process gets written down and handed over, and how ministry really runs: on volunteers, limited time and conviction.

Arise & Build brings those fields together for ministry leaders who are carrying too much alone.

  1. 7

    Years in human services

A runaway shelter and youth probation. How it helps your ministry: Matt has worked where people cannot wait and the team is stretched thin. He finds the real problem before building anything, and he designs for small teams with limited time.

  2. 4

    Years at Paychex

401(k) service, account management and implementation. How it helps your ministry: he has spent years getting new processes running inside client organizations and keeping them running. That is why every engagement ends with a working system and a named owner, not a plan on a shelf. He builds in the free tools you already own.

  3. Serving at a Tampa church

Worship, discipleship and men’s ministry. How it helps your ministry: he knows how a church or ministry runs from the inside, so he speaks your language and builds around your convictions, not over them.

  4. B.A. in Christian Ministry

Being completed now. How it helps your ministry: the diagnosis is rooted in biblical stewardship through the Nehemiah framework, so the systems serve what you believe.

Our mission

To help Christian ministries and nonprofits say who they are, reach their community, and run on systems their people can keep.

The method

The Five-Move Loop: how Nehemiah rebuilt the wall, applied to your ministry.

One section of the wall at a time, with the people closest to it. Each loop ends with work your team can run, and a clear place to start the next one.

Five-MoveLoopONE SECTION AT A TIME1Burden2Wall3Build4Rhythm5Witness
Burden → Wall → Build → Rhythm → Witness, and round again
  1. MOVE 01

    Burden

Name the weight you carry, so the work starts from what actually keeps you up at night.

  2. MOVE 02

    Wall

Choose one section of the wall: the one recurring problem worth fixing first.

  3. MOVE 03

    Build

Build the fix with the people closest to it, so it fits how your ministry really works.

  4. MOVE 04

    Rhythm

Put it on a rhythm someone else owns, so it keeps running when you are away.

  5. MOVE 05

    Witness

Let the finished section speak: your team runs it, your community sees it, and the next loop begins.

What we stand for

Three convictions that shape every engagement.

01

Clarity comes first.

Identity before activity. A ministry that cannot say who it is cannot reach anyone.

02

Systems serve convictions.

We build around what you believe. We never ask you to set it aside.

03

The work ends when you do not need us.

Every engagement closes with someone on your team running the work.

Who we serve

For leaders who hear themselves in these words.

Executive directors, pastors and ministry leads whose paperwork is in place and who have one recurring problem.

If the work only moves when you move it, that is the section of the wall we start with.

Clear about the work

Organizational consulting, and only that.

Knowing where the line sits keeps the work honest and keeps you pointed to the right help.

What we do

  • Clarify your identity and message
  • Reach your community, online and in person
  • Write down and hand off the workflows that depend on you

What we do not do

  • Pastoral care or counseling
  • Legal or financial advice
  • Medical services

From the ministries we serve

What leaders say once the work runs without them.
